Family Office Investment Activity
Company investments and real estate transactions tracked by FINTRX across family offices globally in Q3 2026.
Q3 2026 at a Glance
The third quarter of 2026 reflected a family office investment landscape defined by two parallel dynamics: concentrated, large-scale participation in artificial intelligence and frontier technology rounds, and steady acquisition activity in financial services as family offices and affiliated platforms continued to consolidate the wealth management channel.
Deal volume was consistent across the quarter, with 113 transactions in July, 119 in August, and 110 in September. Of the 342 company transactions, 262 carried a disclosed round size, together totaling $68.3B. The gap between the $34.5M median and the $260.7M average shows how a small number of very large rounds shaped the quarter’s capital totals, while the typical deal remained mid-sized.
Median vs. Average Disclosed Round Size
The average disclosed round size of $260.7M versus a median of $34.5M reflects the dataset’s significant right skew: a handful of very large rounds, Blue Origin ($10B), Vodafone ($5.9B), Databricks ($5B), and Mistral AI ($3.5B), pulled the average sharply above where most transactions landed. For capital raisers, the median is the more useful benchmark: half of all disclosed rounds closed at $34.5M or less.
Where Capital Flowed
Technology and AI led by a wide margin. Pure technology accounted for 69 transactions, and technology-enabled categories across financial services, industrials, energy, and public services added another 71. Financial services was the second largest standalone category at 43 transactions, driven largely by RIA acquisitions.

Family Offices in the Quarter’s Largest Rounds
161 family offices invested in 319 companies across 342 transactions during the third quarter of 2026, and participated in some of the largest private funding rounds raised anywhere in that period. Blue Origin, Databricks, Mistral AI, and The Boring Company each counted at least one family office among their investors.
The fifteen rounds below are the largest in the dataset with family office participation. a16z Perennial took part in 9 of the 15. Ten of the companies are based in the United States, with the remainder in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Sweden.
Real Estate Investment Activity
Family offices completed 23 property transactions in the third quarter totaling $2.41B in disclosed value. A single deal, Pontegadea’s $912M purchase of Capital 8 in London, represented more than a third of that total. Activity was 78% US-based, with international deals in the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
The quarter’s real estate activity was anchored by Pontegadea Investments’ $912M acquisition of Capital 8, a landmark office asset in London, continuing the Ortega family office’s established strategy of acquiring premier commercial real estate in global gateway cities. The quarter also saw active multi-family residential investment in the United States, with Pebb Capital, Broad Creek Capital, and Leon Capital Group among the most active buyers across residential and mixed-use assets. July was the busiest month with 10 transactions, followed by 8 in September and 5 in August.
Real Estate by Property Type
Multi-family and office together accounted for 19 of the quarter’s 23 property transactions. Office deals carried the largest disclosed values, led by Capital 8 ($912M) and 120 Park Avenue ($382M), while six of the ten multi-family deals were completed without a disclosed price.
What This Means for Asset Managers and Capital Raisers
Family offices are deploying capital at scale across asset classes, geographies, and stages simultaneously. The Q3 2026 data reflects a channel that is both highly sophisticated and increasingly active, and one where intelligence on allocation preferences, co-investment patterns, and contact-level relationships is a durable competitive advantage.
AI and frontier technology are the dominant theme.
Family offices are not passive participants in this space. They are co-leading rounds, investing directly alongside institutional venture funds, and committing to large-scale follow-on positions in their highest-conviction holdings. Mistral AI, Databricks, Cognition, Hadrian, and Castelion each attracted multiple family office participants in the same round.
Healthcare and biotech are receiving serious late-stage capital.
Invus Group, Euclidean Capital, Bezos Expeditions, Emerson Collective, and Duquesne each made multiple healthcare investments in Q3. Precision medicine, oncology, and health AI attracted the largest disclosed rounds.
Energy and cleantech round sizes are growing.
Base Power ($1B), Form Energy ($750M), and Antora Energy ($550M) reflect increasing conviction around energy infrastructure and storage at the family office level. Capricorn Investment Group, Foris Ventures, and Emerson Collective are the most active energy investors in the dataset.
Real estate remains a direct investment priority.
For real estate managers and operators, family offices remain active direct buyers, particularly in office and multi-family assets in gateway markets. Pontegadea, Pebb Capital, Ofer Global, and Grosvenor are among the most active family office real estate investors globally.
Wealth management consolidation is accelerating.
RIA acquisitions accounted for 49 of 342 company transactions tracked in Q3, 14% of total deal volume. Family office-affiliated platforms including Wealth Enhancement Advisory Services, Corient, Cerity Partners, and MAI Capital Management were the most active buyers.
FINTRX is the leading private wealth intelligence platform, purpose-built for firms that need to find, understand, and engage with the family office and registered investment advisor channel. FINTRX tracks thousands of family offices globally, covering direct investments, real estate transactions, venture activity, contact-level intelligence, allocation preferences, and relationship mapping across the private wealth ecosystem.
This report covers family office investment activity tracked by FINTRX from July through September 2026 across two categories: company transactions (venture rounds, private equity, acquisitions, and follow-on investments) and real estate transactions (direct property acquisitions across asset classes).
Transaction counts include both disclosed and undisclosed deal sizes. All capital figures reflect the total size of the investment round, not the individual commitment of any single family office participant. In syndicated rounds where multiple family offices co-invested, each participant is counted as a separate transaction.
Geographic coverage is global. A family office or family office-affiliated investment firm may appear on both sides of certain transactions, particularly RIA acquisitions, where the firm functions as both a wealth manager and a direct investor.
