What's Driving the Interest

This quarter's list skews heavily toward investment leadership. Six of the ten, Sarah Archer, Andrew Stout, Stephen Tuckwood, Chelsea Ganey, Eric Sterner, and effectively Brian Kasal and John Hoogenboom as firm founders, hold CIO-level or investment-decision-making titles. That points to distribution teams and asset managers doing manager-selection diligence, since these are exactly the people who decide which funds, ETFs, and external managers get on an RIA's platform.

Brian Kasal and John Hoogenboom represent the founder-led independent RIA story, both having built their own firms after long careers at wirehouses and insurance-affiliated broker-dealers, a profile that draws attention from recruiters and M&A advisors tracking succession and breakaway activity. Katarzyna Marczyk fits a similar pattern as a founder who built Anchor Wealth Management Group after years at J.W. Cole.

Jack Bloom and John Christopher Smith round out the list from opposite ends of the industry: Bloom as a long-tenured independent advisor affiliated with Cambridge and a private wealth team, and Smith as an Executive Director inside J.P. Morgan's wirehouse platform, likely of interest to competitive intelligence and recruiting teams tracking movement at the largest firms.
