Overview

Variant is organized as a corporate venture capital manager that sponsors and operates pooled investment vehicles for institutional investors. The firm is individually owned and registered with the SEC in 2022. Its primary activity is acting as sponsor/GP and serving as portfolio manager for its pooled funds rather than serving as a broad capital allocator to third-party managers. Variant charges a combination of asset-based fees and performance-based fees on the vehicles it manages. The firm does not describe itself as an active ESG investor and is not positioned as a multi-state or pension consultant adviser.
