Overview

Essential Investing is an independent, individually owned RIA structured as an LLC that focuses on fee-based portfolio management and financial planning for individuals, families and small institutions. The firm’s stated preference is equities — particularly exchange-traded instruments — and it runs discretionary portfolios for clients as well as management for pooled investment vehicles. Its business model centers on a percentage-of-AUM fee schedule and on delivering diversified portfolios that combine liquid public market exposures with selected alternative strategies. Investment activity centers on active equity allocation supplemented by third-party alternative managers and mutual funds. Essential Investing does not position itself as a multi-state or pension consultant and is not identified as a capital allocator, but it does make use of external managers across a range of private markets and credit strategies when appropriate for client objectives.
